Scene One

Scene One lets you write one full story of up to 100,000 words on its free plan, which is a more generous starting point than most writing apps give you.

Scene One is an online book writing tool that pairs an AI writing assistant with project management features for novels and other long manuscripts.

The free plan also includes a two-week trial of the Standard tier, though AI generation during that trial is capped at 2,000 words.

After that, Standard costs $9 a month and removes the limits on stories and words you can create and save.

The AI assistant itself sits behind the higher plans.

Advanced is $16 a month and lets you create or edit up to 50,000 AI words monthly, while Professional is $25 a month and raises that to 150,000.

If you run out, you can buy one-time AI Word Boosters: 50,000 words for $6, 100,000 for $11, or 200,000 for $20.

Boosters require an AI plan.

So the $9 tier is for writing and organizing, and you pay more only if you want the AI doing real work.
