Sending meeting audio to a cloud transcription service is a privacy trade many teams would rather skip. trnscrb is a macOS meeting transcription tool that keeps everything on your Mac.

It runs OpenAI's Whisper model on-device, using Apple Silicon Metal acceleration, so no audio or transcript data leaves the machine. trnscrb sits in the menu bar and detects meetings on its own across Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack and FaceTime.

You do not have to remember to hit record.

Transcripts are saved as plain .txt files with speaker diarization, so they are easy to open, search or move into other tools.

There is no account to create and no subscription.

The Claude Desktop integration is the most interesting part.

Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), you can ask Claude to search your past meetings, summarize them or pull out action items.

That makes trnscrb a good fit if you already work in Claude and want your meeting history available there, with the transcribing itself done offline.
